The NIST GCTC Data Supercluster group is working to advance the use of urban data by developing and sharing best practices and produce blueprints for the design, deployment and governance of urban data platforms and data exchanges and governance and , as well as deployed proofs by facilitating sharing collaboration among membership teams and stakeholders further practical application of civic data.
The Data Supercluster addresses critical issues on data platforms. Stakeholders have identified licensing, cyber-security, encouraging innovation, understanding use-cases and proofs of concepts as importantpriority areas of study and sharing. This build off of a In 2017 NISt convening with, the cities of Kansas City, Missouri and Bellevue, Washington teamed withand 20 other cities and several corporate partners to focusdiscuss on Data urban data, data visualization and data hosting platforms.
In early 2018, these efforts efforts of that area, and a new were formalized into a new Data Governance and Exchange Superclustereffort were merged. The scope of the Data Supercluster recently has expanded to embraced work being done at the University of Southern California, City of Coral Gables among others.
The SuperCluster is currently documenting the common experiences among Action Clusters that span Transportation, Public Safety, Utility, Wireless, Ag and Rural, and Education through this website, the Data Supercluster Google Group, face to face and online meetings.
The Data supercluster is open to all stakeholders in GCTC Smart City projects. Innovation using Open Data and networking often experience friction in deployment and operation.
